MULTIPLIERS public campaign on Antimicrobial Resistance featured in new WHO photobook

Melinda Chrysostomou, a science teacher from Cyprus’ The Junior & Senior School, noticed her students had little knowledge of issues surrounding Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) – despite it being one of the greatest challenges of our time. Through activities to encourage their creativity and problem-solving abilities, she helped them learn about AMR and become involved in raising public awareness about the dangers of antibiotic misuse and overuse.
“Our school motto is ‘Inspiring young people to think and care’. This captures the goal of this effort, which is to empower students to become responsible citizens, who can debate and make decisions about critical public health threats”, said Melinda, sharing her story in the new photobook “Stories of AMR”.
Published by the World Health Organisation’s Regional Office for Europe , the book and #Stories_of_AMR campaign feature real-life experiences with AMR from each of the 53 Member States of the WHO European Region. MULTIPLIERS is proud to be featured there through Melinda’s story and the work of our Open Science Community in Cyprus!
The photobook is freely accessible and can be downloaded here. Melinda’s story is featured on page 14.
